This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and share personal information when you visit our website, use the AllScout mobile application (the "App"), or interact with AllScout devices (the "Devices").
1. Roles and Responsibilities
To understand your privacy rights, it is important to know how data is handled on the AllScout Platform:
- The Customer (Data Controller): The individual who buys, installs, and operates the AllScout Device. Customers decide what information to collect, where cameras are placed, and for what purposes the footage is used. If you are a visitor at a premises with an AllScout camera and have questions regarding your data, please approach the property owner first.
- ScoutX (Data Processor / Joint Controller): We process video, audio, and event data on behalf of our Customers to provide the Services. However, we also act as a Data Controller for our website visitors, app users, and business contacts regarding their account, billing, and technical usage data.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal data from you directly, from your Devices, and automatically through your use of our Services.

- Communication Data: Information provided when you contact customer support or leave feedback.
B. Information Collected from AllScout Devices:
- Video and Audio Recordings: Devices record and transmit video and audio footage from your premises. This footage may capture identifiable faces, behaviors, expressions, and voices of Customers, household members, and other individuals ("Data Subjects") in the camera's field of view.
- Device telemetry & Environment: Product model, serial number, Wi-Fi network information, signal strength, and IP address.
C. Information Collected Automatically (App & Website):
Usage & Log Data: Device identifiers, operating system, IP address, browsing history, and interactions with the App.
Location Data: If enabled, the App may collect geolocation data (including background location for features like Geofencing, enabling cameras to arm/disarm when you leave or arrive home).
Cookies & Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to optimize our website, analyze traffic, and provide targeted advertising.
3. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
To provide advanced monitoring (such as person, pet, or hazard detection), AllScout utilizes computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning technologies.
Processing: The Platform processes video and audio data using AI algorithms to send you real-time alerts.
Improvement: We may use aggregated, anonymized, or explicitly consented video/audio snippets to train and improve our machine learning models. We do not use highly sensitive personal footage for AI training without appropriate safeguards or user opt-ins.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To Provide the Services: Streaming live video, storing cloud recordings, and sending AI-triggered safety alerts.
- Account Management: Processing payments, managing subscriptions, and verifying identity.
- Product Improvement: Troubleshooting bugs, monitoring network security, and developing new features.
- Communication: Sending service updates, security alerts, and marketing communications (which you can opt out of at any time).
- Safety & Security: Protecting ScoutX, our staff, and our Customers against fraud, abuse, and illegal activities.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information or video footage to third parties. We only share information under the following circumstances:
- With Authorized Users: If the Customer grants access to "Shared Users" (e.g., family members), those users can view live streams and recorded footage.
- With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party cloud hosts, CRM platforms, and customer support software to operate our business. These providers are strictly bound by data processing agreements.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as a business asset.
- Law Enforcement and Legal Requests: ScoutX firmly protects Customer data against unwarranted government intrusions. We will not share video, audio, or user data with law enforcement agencies unless:
We are legally compelled to do so by a valid, binding subpoena, court order, or search warrant.
We believe in good faith that there is an imminent emergency involving a danger of death or serious physical injury to any person that requires disclosure without delay. Note: Customers may choose to voluntarily share their own video footage with law enforcement at their own discretion.
6. Customer Responsibilities Regarding Surveillance Laws
Privacy and video surveillance laws vary by state and local jurisdiction. You, the Customer, are solely responsible for ensuring you comply with all applicable laws when using AllScout Devices. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Not placing cameras in areas where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., bathrooms, bedrooms, neighbor's property).
Complying with local laws regarding the recording of audio (e.g., two-party consent laws).
- Displaying appropriate public notices/signs alerting visitors that video and audio recording is taking place on the premises, if required by your jurisdiction.
7. Children's Privacy
AllScout is designed to protect families, which may include processing video data of children on a Customer's premises. We process this visual data strictly with the Customer’s explicit consent, under the assumption that the Customer is the parent or legal guardian. The AllScout App and Website themselves are not intended for use by children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect account data from minors.
8. Data Security and Retention
We implement robust technical and organizational measures (including encryption in transit and at rest, and optional Two-Factor Authentication) to safeguard your data.
Retention: We retain cloud recordings only for the duration specified by your subscription plan. Once deleted by the user or expired per the subscription terms, footage is permanently purged from our active servers. Account data is kept as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with legal obligations.
9. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA / US Residents)
Depending on your state of residence (such as California, Virginia, Colorado, etc.), you may have specific rights regarding your personal information, including:
Right to Know: You can request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you.
Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Right to Correct: You may request corrections to inaccurate personal data.
Right to Opt-Out: You may opt out of the processing of your data for targeted advertising.
To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below. If you are a Data Subject captured on an AllScout camera owned by a Customer, please submit your deletion or access request directly to the Customer (the property owner).
